A Voice for the Landscape: Friends of the Lake District 1951–2001, by Jeremy Rowan Robinson

A Voice for the Landscape: Friends of the Lake District 1951–2001, by Jeremy Rowan Robinson

Description

This meticulously researched book explores the role of the Friends of the Lake District in protecting the Lake District in the 50 years since its designation as a national park in 1951.

Published to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Friends of the Lake District, the study acts as a companion volume to the RHC’s 2009 book Friends of The Lake District: the Early Years by John Cousins. The new book brings the history of the Friends forward into the twenty-first century. In it, Jeremy Rowan Robinson draws upon a wealth of primary source materials to chronicle the Friends’ involvement in some of the biggest development proposals affecting the landscape of the Lake District and offers a unique insight into the district’s history.

The book includes a foreward by Dr Alan Crosby and is available to purchase as a standalone volume or as a combined purchase with Cousins’s earlier work. Please select the appropriate option from the list below.
