N8 AgriFood conference 2018

N8 AgriFood conference 2018

Description

We are pleased to announce the second internal N8 AgriFood conference to be held at Lancaster University on the 9th-10th January 2018, themed on the question ‘What is the future of sustainable diets?

The aim of this conference is to bring together academics and researchers from all disciplines across the N8 to think about the relevance of their research to the question of sustainable diets and stimulate discussion, innovative new ways of thinking and new collaborations. During the conference, we will hear from keynote speakers and experts in this area, Dr Tara Garnett (Oxford University) and Prof Mike Berners-Lee (Lancaster University) as well as from current N8 AgriFood funded researchers.

Interactive, interdisciplinary breakout sessions will be facilitated to provide opportunity for idea sharing and discussion. There will be further networking opportunities at the lunchtime poster session and during the conference dinner at Lancaster Brewery where we will enjoy a celebration of local food. Food for the menu has been chosen from speciality suppliers and is local and/or organic where possible. Suppliers include: Mrs Kirkham's Cheese and Goosnargh Duck, both (as the name suggests) from just down the road in Goosgargh, local fruit and veg from Ribble Farm Fare and, from slightly further afield, The Organic Pantry in North Yorkshire.

  • Dinner includes a free bottle of beer on arrival and free wine with the meal

·         Limited number of brewery tours available on a first come basis

Registration for the conference is free, delegates are asked to book their own accommodation and the conference dinner using the options provided. A limited number of tickets for brewery tours are available for before or after dinner on a first come basis.
